How to Plan a Vrindavan Trip: A First-Timer's Guide

6 मिनट पठन·अपडेट 20 मई 2026

Vrindavan can feel overwhelming on a first visit — narrow lanes, big crowds and dozens of temples. A little planning goes a long way. Here's a simple framework to make your yatra smooth and blissful.

When to go

October to March is the most comfortable window, with pleasant weather for walking the temple lanes and parikrama. Summers (April–June) are very hot — start early and rest at midday.

If you want festivals, time your visit around Janmashtami, Holi or Radhashtami — but expect large crowds and book your stay well in advance.

How to reach

The nearest major railhead and airport are at Mathura and Agra/Delhi respectively. Most visitors arrive via Mathura, then take a taxi or auto the ~12 km to Vrindavan.

By road, Vrindavan is just off the Yamuna Expressway, about 3–4 hours from Delhi.

Where to stay

Choose between ashram guesthouses near the temples (closest to the morning darshan) and hotels on the approach roads (easier parking and access). See our stay guide for the options.

Which temples to prioritise

If your time is short, focus on a handful of the most beloved temples and enjoy them unhurried rather than rushing through a long list.

  • Banke Bihari — the heart of Vrindavan
  • Prem Mandir — stunning marble, with an evening light show
  • ISKCON Vrindavan — serene, with sattvic dining
  • Radha Raman & Radha Vallabh — historic, intimate darshan

Getting around

The old town is best explored on foot — many lanes don't allow cars. E-rickshaws and autos cover longer hops between temple clusters. Wear comfortable footwear you can slip off easily.
