Banke Bihari Darshan: Timings, Tips & What to Expect
Banke Bihari is the beating heart of Vrindavan. The darshan here is unlike anywhere else — here's what to expect and how to make the most of your visit.
What makes it unique
There are no bells at Banke Bihari, and the curtain before the deity is drawn open and shut every few moments — the jhanki darshan — so the Lord's gaze never tires the devotee. It is intimate, intense and deeply moving.
Timings
Timings shift between summer and winter and around festivals. Check our Banke Bihari temple page for the current summer and winter schedules before you go.
Crowds & best time
Mornings just after opening are calmer. Weekends, Ekadashi and festival days — especially Janmashtami and the Phoolon ki Holi — see enormous crowds. Keep belongings secure and hold children close.
How to reach
The temple sits deep in the old town's narrow lanes; cars can't reach it. Park nearby or take an e-rickshaw to the closest point, then walk the final stretch on foot.
Good to know
Photography is generally not allowed inside. Dress modestly, go light, and be prepared to leave footwear at a stall before entering.
