Before you walk

  • Most pilgrims walk barefoot — start early morning to avoid the midday heat.
  • Carry water, and keep some cash for prasad and donations along the route.
  • Ekadashi and festival days are the most auspicious but also the most crowded.
  • The Chaurasi Kos parikrama is a multi-day pilgrimage — plan stays and a guide in advance.
